Mumbai, December 16, 2025 – The teaser launch of the highly anticipated war drama "Border 2" was held today, and actor Varun Dhawan grabbed attention with his new moustache look. The event, which took place on Vijay Diwas, commemorating India's victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, saw the presence of the film's cast, including Sunny Deol and Ahan Shetty. Diljit Dosanjh was notably absent.
Varun Dhawan's new look, featuring a prominent moustache, has been a topic of discussion among fans. Earlier this year, in January, the actor was spotted at Mumbai airport sporting the new facial hair, leading to speculation that it was for his role in "Border 2". The look includes a stubble beard, complementing his overall appearance.
The "Border 2" teaser launch was designed to immerse attendees in a war-like atmosphere. The venue featured bunkers, trenches, and military installations, creating the feeling of a live battlefield. Original props from the film, including costumes, weapons, and military gear, were displayed in a museum-style setup, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the film's production. This event marked the first time the entire cast appeared together on stage.
The teaser itself opens with Sunny Deol's powerful voice, setting an intense tone with scenes from the 1971 Indo-Pak War. It offers glimpses of the soldiers and the battlefield, with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty appearing in combat. The teaser also incorporates emotional elements, showcasing the characters' personal lives and moments of happiness. The iconic song "Hindustan Meri Jaan" from the original "Border" film is also featured in the teaser, adding a sense of nostalgia. The teaser further showcases aerial combat, ground assaults, and naval warfare sequences.
"Border 2" is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The film also stars Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Paramvir Cheema, Guneet Sandhu, and Angad Singh. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series, in association with J.P. Dutta's J.P. Films.
The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on January 23, 2026, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend.
The event also held a poignant moment for Sunny Deol, who made his first public appearance after the death of his father, Dharmendra. Deol became emotional while delivering a dialogue from the film and was seen wiping away tears.
"Border 2" aims to celebrate the untold stories of the Indian armed forces. The film promises to deliver a tale of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice.
