Rob Edwards urges Wolves to maintain faith amidst ongoing struggles and a persistent losing streak.

Rob Edwards has called on his Wolverhampton Wanderers players to maintain their belief despite their crushing defeat against Brentford, which marked their tenth successive Premier League loss. The dismal run continues for the rock-bottom Wolves, who suffered a 2-0 defeat at Molineux.

Keane Lewis-Potter's brace in the second half sealed the victory for Brentford, intensifying the home crowd's frustration. Chants of "You're not fit to wear the shirt" echoed around the stadium as Jorgen Strand Larsen's late penalty was saved by Brentford's goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher, adding to the home side's woes.

Wolves' manager, Rob Edwards, expressed his determination to keep fighting. "We have to (keep fighting)," he affirmed, urging his players not to give up mentally. He conveyed his commitment to the cause, stating, "I'm standing in front of you now, I'm going to fight, and I know all the staff are with me and are going to fight, and I need all of the lads to come together and help each other and fight as well".

Edwards acknowledged the extremely difficult situation he inherited. Despite the results, he feels the players are working hard and that there has been improvement in training over the past weeks. He stressed the importance of maintaining belief and consistently doing the right things, hoping for a turnaround in fortunes. Edwards highlighted that many games have been closely contested, but Wolves are ending up on the wrong side of the results. He also emphasized the need to eliminate basic errors.

The defeat against Brentford means that Wolves have now equaled the Premier League record for the fewest points after 17 matches, standing at a mere two. This dubious distinction was previously held by Sheffield United in the 2020/21 season. The loss leaves Wolves adrift at the bottom of the table, increasing the threat of relegation.

Edwards was appointed Wolves manager on November 2, replacing Vitor Pereira. Since his arrival, Wolves have struggled to find form, and Edwards has lost all of his matches in charge. Despite the poor results, the club is likely to give Edwards time to turn things around.

Acknowledging the pressure of playing at Molineux, Edwards had previously urged his players to rise to the occasion. He noted that the team's best performances under his management had come away from home. With several first-team players missing due to injury and international duty, Edwards included a number of academy graduates in the match-day squad against Brentford.

Wolves' next match offers another opportunity to break their losing streak, but the challenges are evident. The team and its supporters can only hope that Edwards' message of continued belief resonates and sparks a change in their trajectory.
