PVR INOX has inaugurated its first multiplex in Leh, Ladakh, marking a significant milestone by establishing India's highest multiplex at an altitude of 11,500 feet. Located in Solar Colony, Saboo, along the Leh-Manali Bypass Road, this two-screen cinema not only introduces a modern movie-watching experience to the region but also features Leh's first-ever food court.
The launch of the multiplex is a strategic move by PVR INOX to expand into high-potential markets that are currently underserved. Developed under the Franchise Owned Company Operated (FOCO) model, this Leh property aligns with the company's asset-light growth strategy while simultaneously strengthening its presence across India. With this addition, PVR INOX now operates 1,774 screens across 356 properties in 112 cities, including locations in Sri Lanka.
Both auditoriums in the multiplex are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure a premium cinematic experience. This includes 2K projection for clear visuals, Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound for immersive audio, and Next-Gen 3D technology for enhanced detail in major releases. Recognizing the challenges posed by the high altitude, PVR INOX has implemented custom-engineered audio systems to maintain consistent sound quality despite the thin air.
In addition to the advanced cinematic technology, the multiplex introduces Leh's first organized food court, in partnership with Devyani International, featuring a variety of national and international quick-service restaurant brands such as KFC, Pizza Hut, and Costa Coffee. This integrated leisure format is designed to enhance the overall visitor experience, positioning the multiplex as a key social and entertainment hub for both local residents and tourists. The food court boasts modern dining spaces with comfortable interiors and stunning mountain views.
The launch of PVR INOX in Leh is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy. The project is anticipated to generate local employment opportunities, support tourism-related economic activities, and contribute to the development of Ladakh's urban environment.
The opening films at PVR Leh include "Dhurandhar" starring Ranveer Singh and the Hollywood 3D fantasy drama, "Avatar: Fire And Ash". The multiplex aims to become a popular weekend destination for locals, armed forces personnel, and travelers, offering a blend of movies and the majestic mountain setting.
