Kareena Kapoor's Omkara Win: A Rare Embrace with Shahid Kapoor as Saif Ali Khan Looks On

In a rare and heartwarming moment, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor, once one of Bollywood's most talked-about couples, shared a genuine hug at the IIFA 2025 press conference in Jaipur on March 8, 2025. The unexpected display of warmth occurred as Kareena was being presented with an award for her performance in Omkara, alongside her husband, Saif Ali Khan.

The gesture, captured by paparazzi, quickly went viral, triggering a wave of nostalgia among fans who fondly remember their on-screen chemistry. Social media platforms were flooded with comments expressing delight at seeing the former couple interact so cordially. Some fans even referred to the moment as a "miracle," highlighting the surprise and joy it evoked.

Omkara, a 2006 Indian Hindi-language crime drama, is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Othello, co-written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film featured an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vivek Oberoi, and Bipasha Basu. Kareena Kapoor played the character of Dolly Mishra, for which she received critical acclaim.

Kareena Kapoor won the Best Actress award (Critics) at the 52nd Filmfare Awards for her role in Omkara. At the awards ceremony, Saif Ali Khan, who later married Kareena, was also present. He had won the Best Actor in a Negative Role for Omkara.

Shahid Kapoor addressed the buzz surrounding the hug, stating that such encounters are not unusual for them. "For us, it's nothing new… aaj stage pe mile aur hum log idhar udhar milte rehte hai (today we met on stage but we keep running into each other here and there), but it's totally normal for us… if people felt nice, it's nice," he said. This attempt to downplay the event suggests a level of comfort and maturity between the two actors, who dated for several years before parting ways in 2007.

Kareena and Shahid were in a high-profile relationship in the 2000s and starred in several films together, including Fida, Chup Chup Ke, and Jab We Met. Their last film together was Jab We Met, which was released shortly after their breakup.

This isn't the first time the two have been in the same public space since their separation. Earlier, at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024, Kareena had walked past Shahid.

Both Kareena and Shahid have moved on and are happily married with children. Kareena married Saif Ali Khan in 2012, and Shahid married Mira Rajput in 2015. Their cordial interaction at the IIFA 2025 event signifies a sense of closure and mutual respect, proving that former flames can indeed co-exist amicably.
