The actress, married to Aditya Dhar, the director of "Dhurandhar" and producer of "Article 370," shared that she was initially nervous about shooting the film during her pregnancy.
Gautam made the revelation about her pregnancy during the trailer launch of "Article 370". She admitted that shooting the film while pregnant was mentally draining. Despite the challenges, she expressed her determination to fulfill her professional responsibilities.
The actress also shared that she had completed the action sequences before she got pregnant. The remaining portions consisted mostly of talking scenes, exterior shots and travel. Gautam also acknowledged the difficulties of balancing work and motherhood, a topic often fraught with guilt for working mothers.
Her husband, Aditya Dhar, played a crucial role in ensuring her well-being on set. Dhar ensured that all necessary precautions were taken and that a panel of doctors was present on set. Gautam has expressed immense gratitude towards Dhar and her family for their unwavering support throughout the journey. She specifically mentioned her mother, who encouraged her to continue working as long as she was medically fit and provided invaluable emotional support. According to Gautam, having her mother around gave her emotional safety.
Gautam also shared a practical example of how she managed her schedule to spend time with her baby while shooting in difficult locations. She would take a weekly flight after wrapping up work, spend a day with her child and then take an early morning flight back to the set.
Yami Gautam emphasized the importance of support systems for working mothers and encouraged everyone to support mothers. She also stressed the importance of doing justice to one's work, especially in a high-stakes industry, if one chooses to work.
Describing the profound emotional shift she experienced after becoming a mother, Gautam stated that the change was instant and transformative. She felt like a completely different person after coming home from the hospital with her baby.
