Kalyani, West Bengal – In a stunning display of attacking football, East Bengal FC recorded their biggest-ever win in the Indian Women's League (IWL) by碾压 SESA Football Academy with a resounding 9-0 victory. The match, held at the Kalyani Stadium on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, saw Fazila Ikwaput and Soumya Guguloth each score a hat-trick, leading the charge for the defending champions.
Ikwaput was particularly lethal, netting four goals. Guguloth bagged three, while Sulanjana Raul and Resty Nanziri each added a goal to complete the rout. East Bengal's dominance was evident from the kickoff, with Ikwaput initially hitting the post in the second minute before the floodgates opened.
Soumya Guguloth initiated the scoring spree in the 6th minute, capitalizing on SESA's failure to clear a low ball from Sushmita Lepcha. Guguloth beat a couple of defenders and fired a right-footed shot past SESA's goalkeeper Beatrice Nketia. Just three minutes later, Lepcha launched a long ball that found Ikwaput, who expertly chipped it over Nketia to double East Bengal's lead.
East Bengal demonstrated their attacking prowess from both flanks. In the 17th minute, Soumya's cross was mishandled by Nketia, allowing 18-year-old Sulanjana Raul to score from eight yards out. Sarita Yumnam then delivered a cross to Fazila, who headed it into the net in the 22nd minute. Ikwaput completed her hat-trick just a few minutes later, slotting the ball into an empty net after beating the goalkeeper. Resty Nanziri added another goal before halftime, ensuring East Bengal went into the break with a commanding lead.
SESA FA, новоиспеченный команда in the IWL, struggled to contain East Bengal's relentless attack. Their defense couldn't handle the pace and strength of East Bengal's attackers, leading to Ambruta Nayak's early substitution. Despite the introduction of Sheela Singh, SESA's fortunes didn't improve. Goalkeeper Panthoi Chanu was largely untroubled, as East Bengal's defense effectively neutralized SESA's attacking threats.
With this victory, East Bengal has risen to second place in the IWL standings, boasting a perfect record of three wins in as many games. They trail Nita FA, who have 10 points, but East Bengal has a game in hand. SESA FA, on the other hand, remains at the bottom of the table after suffering their fourth defeat in four matches. This defeat marks their heaviest-ever loss in the national leagues, including both the IWL and IWL 2. The IWL operates on a two-legged round robin format on a home-and-away basis.
