As 2025 draws to a close, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has penned a reflective note on LinkedIn, characterizing the year as a landmark period of sustained reforms for India. Modi emphasized that 2025 marked a year where India focused on reforms as a continuous national mission, building upon the foundation laid over the past 11 years.
In his article, Modi highlighted India's emergence as a "centre of global attention," attributing this to the "innovative zeal" of its people. He noted that the world now views India with increased hope and confidence, acknowledging the accelerated pace of progress driven by next-generation, cross-sectoral reforms that amplify the nation's growth potential.
Modi outlined a series of transformative reforms undertaken in 2025, aimed at building a prosperous and self-reliant "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India). These reforms focused on modernizing institutions, simplifying governance, and strengthening the foundations for long-term, inclusive growth. The goal was to empower citizens to live with dignity, encourage entrepreneurs to innovate confidently, and enable institutions to function with clarity and trust.
The Prime Minister specifically mentioned the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms as a key achievement, noting the implementation of a streamlined two-slab structure of 5% and 18%. He stated that this reform has eased the burden on households, MSMEs, farmers, and labor-intensive sectors, while also aiming to reduce disputes and improve compliance. According to Modi, the GST reforms have boosted consumer sentiment and demand, evident in the sales growth observed during the festive season.
Modi also pointed out that the defining feature of the 2025 reforms lies in their underlying philosophy, which prioritizes collaboration over control and facilitation over regulation. He emphasized that these reforms were designed with empathy, shaped by consultation, guided by data, and anchored in India's constitutional values.
Concluding his article, Modi urged investors, innovators, and institutions worldwide to partner with India, reinforcing his call with the statement: "Keep trusting India and investing in our people". He expressed that the reforms are designed to move India from a control-based system to one built on trust, with citizens at the center. Modi ended by reiterating the goal of building a Viksit Bharat and continuing the reform agenda. He affirmed that the primary engine of this "Reform Express" is India's demography, its young generation, and the indomitable spirit of its people.
