Liverpool battles Leeds: Arne Slot aims for five straight wins to kick off the New Year.

Liverpool are set to host Leeds United at Anfield on New Year's Day, with the home side aiming to continue their winning streak in the Premier League. The Reds are currently in fourth position and are looking to secure a Champions League spot. Meanwhile, Leeds are struggling near the bottom of the table, currently sitting in 16th place, and will be looking to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Liverpool will be boosted by the return of Dominik Szoboszlai from suspension. The Hungarian midfielder missed the previous match against Wolverhampton Wanderers due to accumulating five yellow cards. However, manager Arne Slot still has several absentees to contend with. Mohamed Salah is away on international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations. Alexander Isak is sidelined with a fractured leg, and Joe Gomez is out with a muscular issue. Wataru Endo is recovering from an ankle injury, and Giovanni Leoni is a long-term absentee due to a knee injury. Stefan Bajcetic and Jayden Danns are also unavailable. Ibrahima Konate is at risk of suspension if he receives a yellow card in the game against Leeds.

Leeds United will be without key defender Joe Rodon, who sustained an ankle injury in the previous match against Sunderland. Daniel James and Sean Longstaff are also unavailable for selection. Despite the absentees, Leeds will be hoping that Dominic Calvert-Lewin can continue his impressive form, having scored in six consecutive league games.

The last time these two sides met, they played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Elland Road. Leeds snatched a point thanks to a late equaliser. Liverpool will be aiming for a better result this time around as they look to maintain their push for a top-four finish.

The match kicks off at 5.30pm GMT and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Ultra HDR in the UK. Streaming will be available for Sky Go subscribers and through NOW TV.
