The FIFA World Cup trophy has landed in Delhi as part of its global tour leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is set to kick off on June 11. The original trophy was unveiled in New Delhi on Saturday, in the presence of FIFA ambassador and former Brazil international Gilberto Silva, Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, and All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Kalyan Chaubey.
This marks the return of the trophy to India after a gap of 12 years. Following its display in Delhi for two days, the trophy will travel to Guwahati for a one-day showcase before leaving India. Guwahati will be hosting the trophy for the first time. The event in Guwahati will commence at 3 PM and will feature cultural and musical performances, including Coke Studio sessions.
The tour is organized by Coca-Cola, the official partner of the FIFA World Cup. Coca-Cola has announced that the trophy will visit Delhi and Guwahati in January 2026. Fans were given a rare chance to see the iconic trophy up close. The trophy tour events included various activities, food stalls, and live music performances under the banner of Coke Studio.
The event highlights India's growing passion for football, with the trophy serving as a symbol of aspiration for millions of fans and aspiring players. AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey emphasized the motivational impact of the trophy's presence, reminding young fans that the global dream is real and reachable. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya said that the trophy will encourage the youth of the country towards the game of football. The government is working to develop a culture of sports in the country, with initiatives such as 'Fit India Movement' and 'Khelo India' promoting fitness and sports at the grassroots level. The aim is to bring India among the top-ten sporting nations of the world by 2036.
The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour began on January 3, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will cover 30 FIFA member associations across 75 stops and more than 150 tour days worldwide.
To attend the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour in Delhi on January 11th and in Guwahati on January 13th, registration is mandatory, and children under 13 years of age are not allowed entry.
