Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Monday, January 12, 2026, after experiencing two episodes of unconsciousness last week. Officials stated that the 74-year-old will undergo an MRI and other detailed medical examinations to assess his condition.
According to sources, Dhankhar fainted twice in the washroom on Saturday, January 10. Following these incidents, doctors recommended hospitalization for a thorough evaluation.
Concerns regarding Dhankhar's health are not new. He has reportedly experienced similar fainting spells during public appearances in the past, including events in the Rann of Kutch, Uttarakhand, Kerala, and Delhi. These incidents occurred while he was serving as Vice President. Citing health reasons, Dhankhar resigned from his position as Vice President on July 21.
Doctors are closely monitoring Dhankhar's condition, and further updates are expected after the completion of the medical evaluations. The MRI and other tests are intended to determine the cause of these recurring blackouts.
