Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has revealed a significant weight loss of 18 kilograms, which he attributes to following an anti-inflammatory diet. The actor, who will soon be seen in a cameo role in the film "Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos," clarified that his dietary changes were primarily motivated by health concerns, specifically to reduce the frequency and severity of his migraine attacks, rather than for aesthetic purposes.
Khan shared that the weight loss was an unexpected but welcome result of his new eating habits. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he said the diet change has been "working like magic" for him. He emphasized that the anti-inflammatory diet not only led to a substantial reduction in his weight but also significantly decreased the intensity and frequency of his migraines. "I undertook the diet for the migraines. It is an anti-inflammatory diet. I not only lost eighteen kgs, my migraines have also reduced considerably," he stated.
Anti-inflammatory diets focus on reducing inflammation in the body, which is often linked to chronic pain, headaches, and various other health conditions. These diets typically include an abundance of fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and healthy fats. Conversely, they limit or avoid processed foods, refined sugars, trans fats, and excessive amounts of carbohydrates, all of which are known to trigger inflammation. Health experts often recommend such diets to manage conditions like migraines, joint pain, and digestive issues.
While Khan did not disclose specific details of his daily meals, his revelation has drawn considerable attention to the potential benefits of anti-inflammatory eating. Other celebrities, such as Vidya Balan, have also credited anti-inflammatory diets for weight loss and overall health improvements.
Nutritionists suggest that chronic inflammation can be a hidden obstacle to weight loss. Stress, sleep deprivation, and high sugar intake can cause the body to release chemicals called cytokines, which disrupt internal signals and hormone balance. An anti-inflammatory diet, by reducing these triggers, may help the body function more efficiently and promote weight loss. Such diets are often based on traditional eating patterns from Asian and Mediterranean cultures. Benefits of this eating approach may include reduced risk of obesity, improved digestion and sustained energy levels.
"Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos," which features Khan in a cameo alongside his nephew Imran Khan, is scheduled for release on January 16, 2026. While the film is generating buzz as a possible comeback vehicle for Imran Khan, Aamir Khan clarified that both he and Imran have only cameo roles in the film. The film is directed by Vir Das and Kavi Shastri, and also stars Vir Das, Mona Singh, and Mithila Palkar.
