Paul Mescal Urges Minimal Spoilers: Dive into The Beatles Biopic Fresh, Unburdened by Expectations.

Paul Mescal, the Irish actor currently starring in "Hamnet," is set to portray Sir Paul McCartney in the upcoming Beatles biopic, a unique four-part film project directed by Sam Mendes. Mescal has expressed his desire for audiences to know as little as possible about the film before watching it.

The ambitious project, titled "The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event," will tell the story of the band from each member's perspective. Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn will star as George Harrison. The films are slated for release in April 2028. Other cast members include Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, and Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono.

Mescal acknowledged that he is contractually obligated to keep details about the movie under wraps but conveyed his enthusiasm for the project. Speaking with Variety, he stated, "I don't want to get into the Beatles thing, not coyly, but actually because I think the world hopefully will benefit from knowing as little as possible going into it". He also shared that filming is nearing completion and will be his primary focus throughout 2026. Mescal told Variety, "I think the endeavour is totally singular. The four of us inside it are pinching ourselves.".

Mescal has met with Paul McCartney in preparation for the role, describing him as "an extraordinary man". He also confirmed that he will be doing his own singing in the film. "Yeah, yeah, absolutely yeah," Mescal stated when asked about singing, revealing that preparing for the role has "really lit a fire" in him and that he has "learned so much".

The actor, who is also set to star in director Richard Linklater's "Merrily We Roll Along," which will be filmed over 20 years, expressed his excitement about playing such creative figures. "It's like a wild privilege to get to play these creative forces," Mescal said.
