FIFA's New Women's Champions Cup: $2.3 Million Prize Pool Awaits the First Champion.

FIFA is set to award $2.3 million to the winners of the inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup, marking the highest single payout in women's club football. The tournament, which brings together the champion clubs from each of FIFA's six continental confederations, is currently underway, with the final scheduled for February 1, 2026, at Arsenal Stadium in London.

The total prize pool for the competition is close to $4 million, which will be distributed among the six participating clubs based on their performance. The runners-up in the final will receive $1 million. The two teams that are eliminated at the semi-final stage will each be awarded $200,000. Auckland United of New Zealand and Wuhan Chegu Jiangda WFC of China, who exited in the opening round, will each take home $100,000.

FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström said that the prize structure underscores FIFA's confidence in the growth of women's club football. He described it as a "clear statement of the belief in women's club football and the players, teams, and competitions driving its continued rise". Grafström emphasized FIFA's commitment to making targeted investments that strengthen women's club football for the long term, ensuring that opportunity, visibility, and value keep pace with the exceptional performances seen on the pitch.

The FIFA Women's Champions Cup is designed to be an annual competition, but it will not be held in years when the FIFA Women's Club World Cup takes place. FIFA had initially planned to launch the Women's Club World Cup in 2026 but later pushed it back to 2028 to allow stakeholders more time to prepare and to ease the workload on players.

The semi-finals are scheduled to be played on January 28 at Brentford Stadium. Gotham FC will face Corinthians, followed by Arsenal against ASFAR. The final and third-place match will be held on February 1 at Arsenal Stadium.

The inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup has already begun, with two first-round matches having been played. The format of the competition is a simple knockout format. In the event of a draw, extra time and then a penalty shootout will be used to determine the winner.

The trophy for the FIFA Women's Champions Cup was revealed on January 19, 2026, in London. The trophy has a design similar to the men's Club World Cup trophy used since 2025.

Kynisca, a global women's sports organization, has been announced as the Presenting Partner of the inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup. FIFA and Kynisca will combine their efforts to create new global opportunities for women's club football and increase the visibility of female athletes worldwide.

Sky Sports will exclusively broadcast all matches.
