A significant fire erupted at a gaming zone located within Udaipur on Friday afternoon, causing substantial property damage. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Sukher police station.
According to Ravindra Charan, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Sukher Police Station, authorities received reports of the fire at approximately 4 p.m.. Firefighting teams and vehicles were immediately dispatched to the scene to combat the blaze.
While the fire caused extensive damage to the gaming zone, authorities have confirmed that there were no casualties or loss of life reported. Firefighters worked for hours to bring the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Authorities are also working to assess whether the gaming zone was in compliance with all fire safety regulations. The extent of the property damage is still being evaluated.
This incident follows a similar, tragic event in Rajkot, Gujarat in May 2024, where a fire at a gaming zone resulted in 32 fatalities. Initial investigations in the Rajkot fire revealed that it originated from sparks during welding work, which ignited flammable materials. That gaming zone was operating without the necessary fire safety permits and lacked adequate emergency exits. The Gujarat High Court took suo motu cognizance of the incident, describing it as a "man-made disaster".
