PM Modi highlights the cultural significance of Bhajan-Clubbing, comparing its impact to global music concerts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the rising trend of "Bhajan clubbing" among Indian youth, noting its blend of devotion and modern lifestyles. Addressing the nation in the 130th edition of his 'Mann Ki Baat' program on Sunday, January 25, 2026, Modi highlighted how this combination of culture and Gen Z lifestyle is gaining popularity.

"Bhajans and kirtans have been the soul of our culture for centuries," Modi stated, emphasizing that today's youth are incorporating the spirit of devotion into their experiences and lifestyles. He pointed out that "Bhajan clubbing," where young people gather to sing devotional songs, is becoming increasingly common across the country.

Describing the events, Modi said, "The stage is decorated. There are lights, music, along with other arrangements, and the atmosphere is no less than a concert". He added that despite the concert-like atmosphere, the singing is done with complete dedication, devotion, and rhythm resonant with Bhajans. Modi also shared the same sentiment on X (formerly known as Twitter), writing, "Our Gen-Z is taking to Bhajan Clubbing...it is spirituality and modernity merging beautifully, particularly keeping in mind the sanctity of the Bhajans".

The Prime Minister emphasized that the dignity and purity of Bhajans are fully respected in these events. "Devotion is not taken lightly. Neither the sanctity of words nor the depth of feeling is compromised," Modi added. He noted it was heartening to see young people keeping the spiritual purity and dignity of devotional songs alive, even in a modern setting. He observed that while the platform might resemble a concert, the focus remains on the deep concentration and dedication that bhajans have represented in India for centuries.

Modi referred to “Bhajan Clubbing” as a wonderful effort to blend spirituality with modernity while preserving the sanctity of bhajans. He also noted that many videos of such gatherings are circulating on social media.

In addition to praising "Bhajan clubbing," the Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the Indian community in Malaysia to promote linguistic diversity, noting the presence of over 500 Tamil schools where various subjects are taught in Tamil. He also mentioned the "Lal Paad Saree" walk in Malaysia, which celebrated Bengal's iconic saree and entered the Malaysian Book of Records for the largest gathering of people wearing the traditional attire.

Furthermore, Modi touched upon other topics during his 'Mann Ki Baat' address, including Republic Day celebrations, National Voters' Day, and India's role in the AI Impact Summit. He also highlighted community efforts to revive the Tamsa River in Ayodhya.
