Rani Mukerji Reveals Heartbreak: The Painful Loss of Her Second Child and Sense of Grief.

In a recent interview, Rani Mukerji has opened up about the personal tragedy of losing her second child to a miscarriage. The actress, known for her powerful performances in films like "Black" and "Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway," shared her experience with a media outlet, revealing the emotional toll it took on her.

Mukerji, who is married to filmmaker Aditya Chopra, has a daughter named Adira, born in 2015. The couple had been trying for a second child for several years. In 2020, Mukerji became pregnant, but unfortunately, she lost the baby five months into the pregnancy.

"I tried for a second baby for almost seven years. My daughter is eight years old now, and when she was one or one-and-a-half, I tried for my second, and I kept trying, and I finally got pregnant and then I lost the baby. Obviously, it was a very, very testing time for me," Mukerji said in the interview.

The actress described the period as "difficult and testing". She revealed that the miscarriage happened during the pandemic, which added to the emotional distress. Mukerji also expressed her sadness that she cannot give her daughter a sibling. "It is traumatic for me that I can't give a sibling to my daughter, and it really pains me," she stated. Acknowledging her age, she added, "I'm going to turn 46, it's not an age where I can have a baby".

Despite the pain and loss, Mukerji emphasized the importance of gratitude. "But we have to always be grateful for what we have. For me, Adira is my miracle child, and I'm really happy I have her," she said.

Mukerji also spoke about how the film "Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway" helped her cope with her grief. The film, in which she played a mother fighting to regain custody of her children, resonated deeply with her. "That story came to me at a time when I had lost my second child [due to a miscarriage]. So my sense of loss was huge, and hearing that film's story, I got attached to it and wanted to let it be known to people," Mukerji told Pinkvilla. She wanted to show the pain a mother experiences when her child is taken away.

Rani Mukerji's openness about her miscarriage is a courageous step that can help break the stigma surrounding pregnancy loss and provide solace to other women who have gone through similar experiences.
