Pratibha Ranta, the breakout star of the critically acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies, is set to join Konkona Sen Sharma in the upcoming psychological thriller, Accused. The film, set to release in 2026, is directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and written by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani.
Accused promises to be a gripping drama that delves into the life of a respected queer doctor in London, whose world is turned upside down when she faces accusations of misconduct. As rumors spread, her professional standing, personal relationships, and even her sense of self are threatened. The film explores themes of perception, moral ambiguity, and the emotional toll of being judged by society. The narrative aims to explore how quickly perception can turn and the devastating cost of being judged too soon.
Konkona Sen Sharma is known for her nuanced performances and is expected to deliver a powerful portrayal of the doctor at the center of the storm.
