Akshay Kumar's upcoming horror-comedy, "Bhooth Bangla," initially slated for release on May 15, 2026, has been moved to April 10, 2026. The decision to prepone the release date was made considering Akshay Kumar's busy schedule and to maximize audience engagement.
According to sources, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan had a conversation regarding the release date shuffle. Before announcing the change, Akshay reportedly spoke with Salman to discuss the release of Salman's film, "Battle of Galwan," which was initially slated for April 17, 2026. Salman confirmed that "Battle of Galwan" was facing difficulties due to pending approvals from the Ministry of Defence. This prompted Akshay to move "Bhooth Bangla" to April 10, 2026.
Sources suggest that Akshay and Salman share a transparent and healthy relationship, characterized by mutual respect and support. Their bond differs from those of many contemporary actors, as they openly discuss their decisions with each other. The two stars are rooting for each other's success, and industry insiders wouldn't be surprised if they were to collaborate on a two-hero film in the future.
"Bhooth Bangla" also stars Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Notably, the film marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Tabu on screen after 26 years, their last project together being "Hera Pheri". Priyadarshan directs the movie, reuniting with Akshay after 14 years; the pair have previously delivered hits such as "Hera Pheri", "Bhool Bhulaiyaa", "Garam Masala", and "Khatta Meetha". The film is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor. "Bhooth Bangla" revolves around a haunted house and the ensuing chaos.
The announcement of the new release date was made through a promotional video on social media. However, the video has sparked controversy, with many viewers accusing it of being AI-generated and criticizing the use of AI in Bollywood promotions.
In related news, the makers of "Bhooth Bangla" also wanted to avoid a clash with "Vvan", another horror film starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, which was also set to release on May 15. However, "Bhooth Bangla" may face competition from Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur's "Dacoit", which is also slated for release on April 10.
