Netflix's 'Kohrra' Season 1 Recap: Mona Singh Joins Barun Sobti to Solve New Mysteries in Season 2.

As the release date for season two of Netflix's crime thriller ‘Kohrra’ approaches, it's timely to revisit the critically acclaimed first season that captivated audiences with its intricate plot and compelling characters. Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on February 11, 2026.

Set against the backdrop of rural Punjab, ‘Kohrra’ Season 1, which premiered on July 15, 2023, weaves a gripping narrative around the murder of Tejinder "Paul" Singh, an NRI. The investigation into his death unearths a web of family secrets, dysfunctional relationships, and social issues prevalent in the region. What begins as a murder mystery soon evolves into a deeper exploration of the Punjabi psyche, the burden of familial expectations, and the struggles of identity.

The series was created by Sudip Sharma, Gunjit Chopra, and Diggi Sisodia, and directed by Randeep Jha. ‘Kohrra’ distinguishes itself with its authentic portrayal of Punjab, using the Punjabi language to enhance the viewing experience. 'Kohrra' received 9 nominations at the 2023 Filmfare OTT Awards, winning 5, including Best Director in a Series (Critics) (Jha), Best Actor in a Drama Series (Vicky) and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Sobti). The series has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and general audiences weren't too far behind with an 83% approval rating.
