In the ninth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with students, teachers, and parents, offering guidance on managing exam stress, promoting personal growth, and using technology responsibly. During the interactive session, held on February 6 and 9, Modi emphasized the importance of reading, reflection, and a balanced approach to learning.
Recalling his school days, Modi shared an anecdote about a teacher who instilled a habit of reading and discussing ideas from The Times of India. "My teacher used to tell us daily, 'Go to the library. In The Times of India, there is a sentence on the edit page - write that in your notebook and come,' and the next day we used to discuss it," he said. He emphasized that this practice shaped his thinking and highlighted the role of reading and reflection in learning.
The Prime Minister cautioned against over-reliance on technology, noting that mobile phones have become "masters" for some children. He advised students to use AI for guidance and value addition, not as a substitute for learning. Modi stressed that technology should be used as a tool and not be allowed to control daily life.
Modi also addressed the importance of balancing skills and marks, urging parents to create a supportive environment that values learning, not just scores. He noted that skills are of two types—life skills and professional skills—and both are equally important. He advised students to manage studies, rest, skills, and hobbies together, emphasizing that balance is essential in life.
Furthermore, Modi shared practical tips for exams, stressing preparation, rest, and a positive mindset. He encouraged practicing previous years' papers, focusing on writing, and getting a good night's sleep to stay cheerful. He advised students not to dwell on the past and to live in the present.
The event drew a record 4,50,13,379 registrations, with audiences following on television and online portals. The interactive sessions were held with students from various locations, including Devmogra in Gujarat, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, Raipur in Chhattisgarh, and Guwahati in Assam, besides the Prime Minister's official residence in New Delhi. Students also showcased their creativity by performing self-composed songs.
Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026 aimed to help students remain stress-free during examinations and encouraged a stronger emphasis on learning, in line with the National Education Policy 2020. Modi urged students to focus on inner growth and self-awareness and reminded them of their role in building a developed nation. He encouraged students to dream big and learn beyond textbooks, emphasizing that confidence, not fear, improves performance.
