The 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) has officially launched its website, marking a significant step forward in the process of revising pay structures, allowances, and pensions for central government employees and pensioners. The website, accessible at https://8cpc.gov.in/, serves as a central hub for official documentation, engagement tools, notifications, and public consultations related to the Commission's activities.
The Commission is inviting suggestions and feedback from key stakeholders, including ministries, government departments, central government employees, pensioners, and other concerned groups. To facilitate this process, the 8th CPC has rolled out a structured questionnaire on the MyGov portal to collect detailed feedback and inputs. The questionnaire consists of 18 questions and is available in both English and Hindi.
The deadline for submitting responses to the questionnaire is March 16, 2026. The commission has clarified that all submissions must be made through the MyGov portal, and paper-based physical responses, emails, or PDF submissions will not be considered. To submit recommendations, individuals need to sign up or log in to the MyGov portal using their mobile number or email ID and enter a 6-digit OTP.
The 8th Central Pay Commission is seeking feedback from a wide range of stakeholders to better understand key concerns and expectations. This includes serving central government employees (civil and defense), employees of Union Territories, judicial officers, officers and employees of courts, members of regulatory bodies, associations or unions of serving or retired employees, pensioners, researchers, academicians, and individual citizens. The commission has assured that the identities of respondents will remain confidential and that the feedback received will be analyzed and presented only in an aggregated and non-attributable form.
The government first announced the formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission in January 2025 and formally notified it through a Ministry of Finance notification dated November 3, 2025. At the same time, the government approved the Terms of Reference for the Commission and gave it 18 months to submit its recommendations on revising salaries, pensions, and other allowances. The Commission is expected to submit its report around early May 2027. The recommendations are expected to impact approximately 50 lakh Central government employees and 69 lakh pensioners.
The launch of the website and the initiation of public consultations reflect a digital-first and participative approach, aiming to broaden transparency and inclusivity in the pay revision process. The website serves as a centralized information dissemination platform, replacing fragmented notices across departments and promoting active engagement across millions of potential contributors.
While the implementation date of the 8th CPC is yet to be announced, the government has assured that it will make appropriate provisions of funds for implementing the accepted recommendations. It remains uncertain whether arrears will be paid from January 1, 2026. The implementation of the 8th CPC is expected to have a significant impact on the pay scales, allowances, and pension benefits of millions of central government employees and pensioners.
