A disturbing incident occurred in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where an Indian Army Jawan was allegedly assaulted and restrained by toll plaza workers. The incident took place on Sunday night, August 17, at approximately 8 PM at the Bhuni toll plaza, located on the Meerut–Karnal highway in the Sarurpur police station area.

The altercation reportedly began over a dispute regarding toll tax. According to reports, the Army Jawan, Kapil Kavad, was en route to Delhi airport with his cousin to return to duty when the incident unfolded.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing a group of eight to ten toll plaza employees surrounding the jawan and brutally beating him. The footage also depicts the jawan tied to a pole while being assaulted.

Authorities have taken swift action in response to the incident. As of today, August 18, 2025, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault.

The incident has sparked outrage and condemnation, with many expressing concern over the safety and treatment of army personnel. Further investigations are underway.
