Tommy Fleetwood secured his first PGA Tour victory at the 2025 Tour Championship, also claiming the coveted FedEx Cup title. The Englishman's win at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, earned him a $10 million payout from the $40 million purse.

Fleetwood's journey to victory wasn't without its challenges. He arrived at East Lake following a heartbreaking experience at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. However, he quickly found his stride, opening the Tour Championship with impressive rounds of 64, 63, and 67. This performance placed him in a tie for the lead with Patrick Cantlay heading into the final round.

On Sunday, Fleetwood extended his lead early as Cantlay stumbled with a bogey at the first hole and a double bogey at the second. While Cantlay attempted to close the gap, Fleetwood remained composed, making crucial birdies on the 12th and 13th holes. Ultimately, Fleetwood's consistent performance and clutch play allowed him to secure the win with relative ease, finishing at 18-under 262.

The 2025 Tour Championship marked a change in the FedEx Cup payout structure. The PGA Tour Policy Board decided to distribute the $100 million bonus pool at three different points. $20 million was paid out after the Wyndham Championship, and $23 million after the BMW Championship. This left a $40 million purse for the Tour Championship at East Lake.

Here's a breakdown of the top finishers and their payouts:

  • Winner: Tommy Fleetwood - $10,000,000
  • T2: Patrick Cantlay - $4,352,500
  • T2: Russell Henley - $4,352,500
  • T4: Scottie Scheffler - $2,616,666
  • T4: Cameron Young - $2,616,666
  • T4: Corey Conners - $2,616,666
  • T7: Keegan Bradley - $1,121,666
  • T7: Justin Thomas - $1,121,666
  • T7: Sam Burns - $1,121,666
  • T10: Ben Griffin - $715,000
  • T10: Chris Gotterup - $715,000

Viktor Hovland finished in 12th place, earning $660,000. Several players tied for 13th, including Shane Lowry, Akshay Bhatia, Harris English and Brian Harman, each taking home $570,000. Even the golfer who finished in last place, Sepp Straka, earned $355,000.

Fleetwood's victory was particularly significant as it was his first in 164 PGA Tour starts. His performance earned him not only the substantial winner's check but also the title of FedEx Cup champion. He joins Chad Campbell as the only golfers to capture their first tour title at the Tour Championship. He is also the second Englishman to win the FedEx Cup, following Justin Rose in 2018.

The 2025 Tour Championship marked the end of the 110th season of the PGA Tour and the 19th edition of the FedEx Cup. The event, held at East Lake Golf Club from August 21 to August 24, showcased the top 30 players on the PGA Tour competing for a substantial prize and the prestigious FedEx Cup title.
