As Delhi gears up for the annual Dussehra festivities, the Lav Kush Ramlila Committee is planning a special tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. This year, the Ramlila, a dramatic enactment of the Ramayana, will incorporate elements honoring the valor and sacrifices of Indian soldiers, particularly focusing on "Operation Sindoor".

The decision to dedicate this year's Ramlila to the Armed Forces was made during a meeting of the Shri Ramlila Mahasangh, an organization representing approximately 850 Ramlila committees across Delhi. Arjun Kumar, president of the association and Lav Kush Ramlila, emphasized the unanimous agreement among the committees to showcase the bravery of the Indian Army, especially their efforts witnessed during Operation Sindoor.

In a gesture of respect and remembrance, the Lav Kush Ramlila committee plans to send out invitation cards designed with an "Op Sindoor" theme. This symbolic gesture aims to connect the epic tale of the Ramayana with contemporary displays of courage and duty demonstrated by the armed forces.

To further amplify the tribute, Ramlila committees have been encouraged to present thematic tableaux or screen short films, lasting 15-20 minutes, highlighting the Army's bravery. Some committees have also committed to depicting the efforts of the Armed Forces through plays. This multi-faceted approach ensures that the audience is reminded of the soldiers' unwavering commitment to the nation.

Mahender Nagpal, president of the Ashok Vihar Ramlila Committee, expressed the importance of keeping the sacrifices of the Armed Forces alive in public memory. He drew a parallel to the Tiranga Yatra, emphasizing that this initiative is another way to honor the soldiers and their contributions.

The Ramlilas in Delhi are scheduled to be staged for 12 days, from September 22 to October 3, with Dussehra being celebrated on October 2. This extended duration provides ample opportunity to showcase the theme dedicated to the Armed Forces and allows more people to witness the tribute.

In addition to honoring the Armed Forces, the Shri Ramlila Mahasangh is considering establishing a Ramayana Research Centre in Delhi. This center would facilitate continuous research on the life and teachings of Lord Rama, further promoting cultural awareness and education. Another proposal under consideration is the enactment of Sita's birth alongside Ram's, adding depth and completeness to the Ramlila narrative.

The Lav Kush Ramlila Committee, known for hosting one of the most iconic Ramlila performances in Delhi near the Lal Kila, plays a crucial role in organizing this grand event every year. The committee's responsibilities range from setting up the stage to casting actors and coordinating rehearsals, ensuring the Ramlila's success.
