A tragic bus accident in Kakori, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to more than ten others. The incident occurred on Thursday night when a roadways bus traveling from Hardoi to Lucknow veered off the road and plunged into a ditch.

Reports indicate that the bus collided with a water tanker before falling into the 20-foot-deep ditch. Road construction was underway in the area, and water was being sprinkled on the road when the accident occurred. Some reports suggest the driver lost control while trying to avoid a collision with the water tanker, which lacked proper reflectors and had low visibility due to darkness. In an attempt to avoid the tanker, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to hit the tanker and overturn into the ditch. Other reports indicate the bus fell off a bridge.

Upon receiving news of the accident, police, fire service personnel, and local authorities rushed to the scene to initiate rescue operations. Working together, they extracted the injured passengers from the mangled bus and transported them to nearby hospitals, including the Kakori community health center, for medical treatment. According to the police, the injured are currently receiving medical care.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the accident. He expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and directed senior officials to the scene, instructing them to ensure proper medical treatment for those injured.

Initial reports stated that three motorcyclists were also involved in the accident after the bus overturned. The bus, carrying 54 passengers, was en route from Hardoi to the Kaiserbagh Depot in Lucknow.
