Security forces have achieved a major breakthrough in Poonch with the arrest of three terror sympathizers and the recovery of seven AK-47 rifles along with a large cache of arms and ammunition. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti, announced the success on Sunday, praising the Jammu and Kashmir Police team for their perseverance and "fantastic investigation" that led to the arrests.
The IGP Jammu highlighted the achievement in a post on X, commending the police force's "dogged determination and relentless investigation". The post further stated that the operation resulted in the apprehension of three terror sympathizers and the recovery of seven AK rifles, including four that were recovered earlier, in addition to a substantial quantity of warlike stores.
The recovery of these weapons and the arrest of the terror sympathizers is a significant blow to militant activities in the region. Authorities believe the individuals were providing support and assistance to terrorist groups operating in the area. Their apprehension is likely to disrupt the network of these groups and prevent potential attacks.
This successful operation follows another recent achievement by security forces in Kulgam, where "Operation Gooder" concluded with the elimination of two hardcore Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists. The slain militants were identified as Rahman, a Pakistani national, and Amir Ahmed Dar, a resident of Daramdora, Shopian. Security forces also recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, and other warlike stores from the encounter site.
These operations demonstrate the continued efforts of security forces to combat militancy and maintain peace and stability in the Jammu and Kashmir region. The focus remains on eliminating terrorists, dismantling their networks, and preventing them from carrying out acts of violence. The arrest of the three terror sympathizers in Poonch is a testament to the effectiveness of these efforts and the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
