Sunny Deol is reportedly set to resume shooting for the final schedule of "Lahore 1947" in Punjab starting October 10. This decision follows suggestions from the film's producer, Aamir Khan, who proposed some changes after viewing the initial cut. The upcoming schedule will focus on incorporating these newly envisioned sequences.
The shoot is expected to last for 12 days and will primarily involve Sunny Deol, as other principal cast members like Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi have already completed their parts. According to sources, Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi will film the new sequences in real locations across Punjab.
"Lahore 1947" is a period drama that explores the emotional experiences of people during the partition of India. The film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions, bringing together Sunny Deol, Rajkumar Santoshi, and Aamir Khan for the first time.
Initially, "Lahore 1947" was slated for a 2025 release, coinciding with the start of production in February 2024. However, the team decided to prioritize the film's quality, pushing the release to 2026. Post-production is currently in progress.
Notably, an earlier 70-day shooting schedule had already been completed without breaks. Sources mentioned that the film had "largely finished shooting" after this intensive schedule, with only a few days of patchwork remaining once the edit was finalized. The film's grand finale is expected to feature a train sequence, portraying the chaotic and emotionally charged atmosphere of the partition era with detail and intensity.
In addition to "Lahore 1947", Sunny Deol has other projects in the pipeline, including "Border 2" with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, as well as Nitesh Tiwari's "Ramayana Part 1 and 2," where he will play Lord Hanuman alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.
