Embracing Freedom: Man Celebrates Divorce with Cleansing Milk Bath and Cake Cutting Ritual.

A video of an Indian man celebrating his divorce has gone viral, sparking mixed reactions on social media. The man, identified as Biradar DK, marked the occasion with a Hindu purification ritual, a "Happy Divorce" cake, and, according to some reports, a parting gift to his ex-wife.

The video, shared on Instagram on September 25, shows Biradar DK dressed in festive attire as his mother pours milk over him in a traditional 'Shuddhi' ritual, also known as Abhishekam. This ritual is typically performed for gods and goddesses as a form of purification and new beginning. Following the ritual, Biradar is seen cutting a chocolate cake with "Happy Divorced" written on it, surrounded by cheering family members.

In the caption, Biradar wrote, "Please be happy and celebrate yourself, don't be depressed". He also included the statement, "Single hoon, khush hoon, azad hoon. Meri zindagi, meri rules!", which translates to "I am single, happy, free. My life, my rules!". He further clarified, "120 gram gold aur 18 lakh cash liya nahi diya hu," suggesting that he neither took nor gave 120 grams of gold and INR 18 lakh. However, this claim has not been independently verified. Some reports suggest that he gifted his ex-wife 120 grams of gold and property worth INR 18 lakh.

The video has garnered mixed reactions online. Some viewers applauded Biradar's confidence and positive outlook after his divorce, while others criticized his way of celebrating. Some social media users have congratulated him and admired his mother's support, while others have expressed concerns about the message it sends and the potential impact on his ex-wife. One user commented, "Congratulations," while another wrote, "Please don't get married again... Your mother is enough to take care of you... Enjoy". Conversely, some criticized the video, with one user commenting, "I hope your ex-wife is happier than you," and another writing, "Dear girls, if you want to live peacefully in your life then please stay away from Mamma's boy, otherwise get ready to see the biggest disaster of your life".

Biradar stood by his decision to celebrate the end of his marriage and embrace his newfound single status. In a follow-up post, he thanked his supporters and encouraged others going through divorce to see it as a fresh start rather than a failure. He emphasized that happiness is worth celebrating, even after a goodbye.

This isn't the first time a divorce celebration has made headlines. In July 2025, a similar incident occurred in Assam, where a man celebrated his divorce by bathing in 40 litres of milk. He claimed his wife had been unfaithful and that the milk bath symbolized his freedom from the past.

These incidents highlight a shift in how some individuals perceive divorce, choosing to view it as a new beginning rather than a cause for sorrow. However, they also spark debate about the appropriateness of celebrating what is often a painful and complex life event.
