Nothing is reportedly developing a new, more affordable addition to its Phone 3 series, potentially named the Nothing Phone 3a Lite, which could launch in India and globally before the end of 2025. This move would continue Nothing's trend of offering budget-friendly options alongside its flagship devices.
The Phone 3a Lite is expected to be positioned below the standard Phone 3a in the company's lineup. While specific hardware details are still under wraps, early reports suggest it will come with a single configuration of 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It is also expected to be available in black and white color options initially. It's possible that Nothing may introduce additional storage variants or colors for different global markets later on.
The expected launch of the Nothing Phone 3a Lite comes after Nothing CEO Carl Pei had suggested that the Phone 3 completed the Phone 3 series. However, this new leak indicates that Nothing is aiming to further expand its presence in the mid-range smartphone market.
The price of the Phone 3a Lite is speculated to be around Rs. 20,000 in India. For context, the standard Nothing Phone 3a launched at a starting price of Rs. 24,999. Industry observers anticipate the "Lite" variant to be priced competitively to attract consumers in India's mid-range segment.
To achieve a lower price point, the Nothing Phone 3a Lite will likely feature some scaled-down specifications compared to the Phone 3a. The Nothing Phone 3a features a 6.7-inch flexible AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. It also has a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor. Other features of the Nothing Phone 3a include 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port, all powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 50W fast charging support. The 3a Lite is likely to adopt similar, or slightly scaled-down, specifications for a more budget-friendly experience.
The launch of the Nothing Phone 3a Lite could create an interesting dynamic within Nothing's own product ecosystem, as it will need to differentiate itself from both the Phone 3a and the CMF Phone 2 Pro.
