Rajat Bedi, known for his roles in Bollywood films, is experiencing a surge in attention following his comeback in Aryan Khan's debut series, The Ba*ds Of Bollywood. However, the spotlight has also unexpectedly turned towards his family, particularly his daughter Vera. Vera accompanied her father to the Mumbai premiere of the show, marking her first red carpet appearance. The internet quickly took notice, with many drawing comparisons between Vera and a young Kareena Kapoor, some even suggesting she was "more beautiful and charming" than the Bollywood star. Comparisons also arose between Rajat's son, Vivaan, and actor Hrithik Roshan.
The sudden attention and comparisons have been overwhelming for Vera, according to Rajat Bedi. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Rajat shared, "My whole family has got into the spotlight. It's not just me alone. My children are exposed right now because of me and the show. They have gone viral, and it's crazy". He added that Vera is "just overwhelmed... because that attention is not just from India, but global… People are calling from America, Canada, London, Dubai, everywhere". He emphasized that Vera is a simple person who has never been exposed to this kind of media attention before.
Rajat explained that his family, including his wife and children, reside in Canada, where they lead a very different lifestyle, away from the pressures of Bollywood fame. The actor noted that Vera was not comfortable with the comparisons to Kareena Kapoor and that the unexpected spotlight was difficult for her to handle, as she had no prior experience with the entertainment world.
Addressing the comparisons directly, Rajat Bedi has appealed to the public to refrain from pitting his daughter against established actresses like Kareena Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In an interview with Filmygyan, Rajat responded to a comment about Vera being able to "eat 10 Kareena Kapoor and 20 Aishwarya for dinner" by saying, "Nahi, nahi please, please, please (folding hands). My daughter is a very innocent girl. Meri haath jod ke binti hai, aisa statements please mat banaiye ki she can eat a Kareena Kapoor or an Aishwarya Rai". He further added, "My daughter is still very young. Please show her love and respect... Even she doesn't understand what is happening".
Despite the initial shock, Rajat mentioned that Vera is now considering entering the film industry. He also stated that his children are aware of the need to remain humble and respectful despite the attention. When asked if he had prepared his children for the publicity, Rajat admitted, “No, I have not yet spoken to them about how to deal with it. But they know they have to be humble, respectful with any and everyone".
