Ibrahim Ali Khan is generating buzz as he dives into his third film project, "Diler," a sports drama directed by Kunal Deshmukh. Following the recent release of "Sarzameen" on July 25, 2025, where he played an estranged army officer's son, Ibrahim is wasting no time in tackling a new role under Deshmukh's direction.
According to sources, Ibrahim feels confident in Deshmukh's ability to showcase his acting skills. While details on Ibrahim's specific statements are scarce, the young actor seems eager to collaborate with Deshmukh, known for films like "Jannat," "Tum Mile," and "Shiddat". This confidence suggests a strong rapport between the actor and director, hinting at a potentially fruitful partnership.
"Diler" has already faced some production challenges. Initial plans involved shooting extensively in London, but due to rising unrest and anti-immigration protests in the UK in the summer of 2024, the production team, led by producer Dinesh Vijan, shifted the filming location to Mumbai to ensure the safety of the cast and crew. However, parts of the movie were filmed in London last year. Despite these adjustments, the film is now back on track, with behind-the-scenes glimpses surfacing online. A photo shared by Deshmukh's wife, Sonali Rattan Deshmukh, on Instagram showed Ibrahim in a recording studio, further fueling anticipation for the film.
The sports drama is not a biopic but a fictional story about an athlete who does not take his talent seriously, until life makes him realise that he has taken things for granted.
Ibrahim's co-star in "Diler" is South Indian actress Sreeleela, marking her Bollywood debut. The pair have already shot scenes together in various locations, including Chandigarh, Mumbai, and London.
Ibrahim's early exposure to acting includes a role as a younger version of his father Saif Ali Khan's character in "Tashan" (2008). He also worked as an assistant director for Karan Johar on "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" (2023). His sister, Sara Ali Khan, has expressed immense love and support for her brother's career.
"Diler" is produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. The film follows Ibrahim's earlier projects, "Nadaaniyan" and "Sarzameen". In "Sarzameen," Ibrahim played a complex character, the estranged son of an army officer (Prithviraj Sukumaran), alongside Kajol.
