China's Envoy: Collaborative Solutions Transcend Western Limitations on Global Challenges and Issue Resolutions.

China's Consul General in Mumbai, Qin Jie, has asserted that China and India possess the combined capabilities to resolve global issues that Western nations cannot, signaling a call for enhanced cooperation between the two countries amidst improving diplomatic relations.

Speaking at an event organized by the India-China Friendship Association (ICFA) in Bengaluru, commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and India, Qin Jie highlighted the potential of the two nations, stating, "The future between China and India is very promising. We have a huge population, a big market, and great wisdom. We can solve many problems that the West cannot". He further emphasized the "kind, cooperative, and willing to help each other" nature of the people as a fundamental strength.

Qin Jie noted Bengaluru's unique advantages, citing its climate, urban development, and thriving tech ecosystem as factors making it an attractive hub for professionals. He mentioned a company from China's Anhui province that has been operating in Karnataka for about 10 years, employing over 3,000 people and performing well. The Consul General also stated that approximately 1,000 Chinese nationals currently reside in Karnataka, with expectations for this number to increase in the coming years.

Following a five-year suspension, India resumed issuing tourist visas to Chinese citizens in July 2025. Consular officials anticipate increased tourism and business travel due to the restoration of direct flights between the two countries. Qin Jie noted a growing number of Indians returning to China after the COVID-19 pandemic. "Our consulate in Mumbai, which also covers Karnataka, has already issued more than 80,000 visas in 2025. By the end of the year, that number could exceed and touch 300,000 across our consulates and embassies," he said.

China's foreign policy objectives include preserving its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, fostering a favorable international environment for reform, promoting world peace, and driving common development. China's increased involvement in global governance enhances its international political influence and helps project its soft power. China has become more assertive in foreign affairs since 2008, especially in its relationships with the United States, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific countries.

China supports international institutions and agreements aligned with its goals, such as the World Bank and the Paris Agreement on climate change. The country also seeks to shape the global governance system to advance its model of political and economic development.

The relationship between China and India is of great long-term significance for the future of Asia and the emerging global order. While there has been general distrust and border conflicts between the two countries, they are cautiously rebuilding ties with renewed border talks, restored flights, and revived trade.

China aims to position itself as a leader of the global South through initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and other economic mechanisms, contrasting itself with global North countries. Recent China-hosted summits with leaders from Russia, India, North Korea, and Iran highlight the reshaping of the global order.
