'Saw body parts on road…’: Eyewitnesses narrate chilling details of Delhi blast
New Delhi, November 10, 2025 – A car explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi has resulted in at least eight fatalities and numerous injuries, according to initial reports. The incident, which occurred this evening, triggered a massive fire that engulfed several vehicles and prompted a swift response from emergency services.
Eyewitness accounts paint a gruesome picture of the aftermath. One individual, visibly shaken, told NDTV that he saw body parts scattered on the road immediately after the blast. "The blast was so loud that my ears hurt for some time," he recounted. Another witness reported seeing a hand lying on the road amidst the debris.
"It was a very powerful explosion," sources within the Delhi Police stated. The impact was such that three to four vehicles in proximity to the car where the explosion originated also caught fire and sustained significant damage.
The Delhi Fire Department received a call regarding the explosion near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. Initially, five fire engines were dispatched to the scene, but the scale of the blaze necessitated reinforcements, with the final count reaching fifteen. Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and prevent further escalation.
The injured were immediately transported to Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP), where the deaths were confirmed. Authorities have cordoned off the area, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the explosion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed on the situation and has spoken with Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah, in turn, has been in contact with Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and is receiving regular updates from the Intelligence Bureau. The Home Minister stated that the exploded vehicle was an i20 and that all possible angles would be probed.
In the wake of the Delhi blast, Mumbai, Jaipur, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have been placed on high alert. Security has been heightened, and law enforcement agencies are taking precautionary measures to prevent any potential follow-up incidents.
Teams from the National Security Guard (NSG), National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the forensic department have arrived at the site to collect evidence and assist in the investigation. A team from the special cell of the Delhi police, and the DIG CRPF, are also present to assess the damage and gather intelligence.
