Manchester United's Benjamin Sesko is expected to be sidelined for approximately four weeks due to a knee injury sustained in the recent 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. The injury occurred late in the game, forcing Sesko to leave the pitch after being introduced as a second-half substitute. Initial concerns suggested a potentially serious, long-term issue, but recent scans have revealed that the injury is not as severe as first feared.

The news comes as a relief to Manchester United and their manager, Ruben Amorim, who expressed his concern immediately following the Tottenham match. Amorim acknowledged Sesko's importance to the team and the need to have him available. The Slovenian international's absence will still pose a challenge, as he has shown glimpses of his potential since joining the club from RB Leipzig this past summer for £73.7 million.

Sesko's injury occurred after he appeared to jolt his knee while attempting to score, with Tottenham's Micky van de Ven challenging him. He was subsequently withdrawn from Slovenia's World Cup qualifiers against Kosovo and Sweden to undergo further assessment and begin rehabilitation in Manchester.

Despite only having featured in 11 Premier League games, starting in six, Sesko has already contributed two goals and one assist. His link-up play and ability to hold up the ball have also been valuable assets to the team. Sesko's tendency to drop deeper often draws center-backs out of position, creating space for other attacking players like Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

The anticipated four-week layoff means Sesko is likely to miss Premier League matches against Everton on November 24, Crystal Palace on November 30, and West Ham United on December 4. There is also a possibility he could miss the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 8. However, the club remains optimistic that he could return to action around the time of the Aston Villa match on December 21, or potentially the Boxing Day clash against Newcastle.

The medical team is reportedly encouraged by the fact that the initial swelling subsided quickly, and stability tests showed no significant damage to the joint. With proper management and no setbacks, Sesko is expected to resume full training in late December, allowing him to rejoin the squad during a congested period of fixtures.

While Sesko is out, Amorim will need to adjust his attack. Options include relying on Joshua Zirkzee, although he has expressed a desire to leave, or giving an opportunity to 17-year-old academy prospect Chido Obi, who is yet to make a senior appearance. Bryan Mbeumo or Matheus Cunha could also be deployed as alternatives.
