India Women's Cricket: Bangladesh Home Series Postponed Amidst Scheduling Conflicts and Logistical Issues.

The India women's cricket team'sscheduled home white-ball series against Bangladesh has been put on hold. The series, which included three ODIs and three T20Is, was originally slated for December and was part of the ICC Future Tours Programme.

While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not provided an official reason for the postponement, it is widely believed that the current tense diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh influenced the decision. A BCCI source mentioned that they are trying to arrange an alternate series in December, but details are still being worked out. The board did not grant approval for the series to proceed as initially planned.

Tensions between the two countries have reportedly risen following a tribunal court in Bangladesh sentencing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death for alleged crimes against humanity. The interim government in Dhaka has also requested that New Delhi hand over Hasina, who is currently in India after fleeing the country.

This series was intended to be India's first international engagement since winning the ICC ODI World Cup earlier this month. It also marked the beginning of the new cycle of the Women's ODI Championship for both teams. The matches were planned to be held in Kolkata and Cuttack.

The BCCI is currently exploring alternative arrangements for a home series in the third week of December. However, if it materializes, it will likely be a short series because the Women's Premier League (WPL) is scheduled to begin in early January, followed by India's all-format tour of Australia.

Earlier this year, the Indian men's team's white-ball tour of Bangladesh, initially scheduled for August 2025, was also postponed to September 2026. The BCCI stated that the decision was reached after discussions between the two boards, taking into account international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience for both teams.
