Indian Army's Retaliation: Video Shows Destruction of Pakistani Post Across Line of Control After Attack.

Amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian Army has released the first official video purportedly showing the destruction of a Pakistani Army post along the Line of Control (LoC). This action comes in the wake of heightened cross-border exchanges and accusations of ceasefire violations from both sides.

The video's release follows India's launch of "Operation Sindoor" on May 7, a military response to what it claims were terrorist infrastructures inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This operation was initiated after a deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, on April 22, which resulted in the death of 26 people. India has blamed Pakistan for the attack, a charge that Islamabad strongly denies.

In response to India's "Operation Sindoor," Pakistan has denied targeting any locations in Indian-administered Kashmir or across the international border. However, Pakistani troops have reportedly resumed firing across the LoC, including areas in Kupwara and Uri. Simultaneously, there have been reports of Pakistan-originated drones and missiles targeting military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. The Indian Armed Forces have claimed to have successfully neutralised these threats.

The situation remains tense, with reports of heavy artillery fire along the LoC. Villages near the LoC have been largely emptied, with residents fleeing or seeking shelter in bunkers. Blackouts have been imposed in various cities in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan. Several airports across northern India were closed but have now resumed normal operations.

Amidst these developments, the Press Information Bureau's (PIB) Fact Check Unit has refuted claims and videos circulating on social media, particularly from Pakistani accounts, alleging the destruction of an Indian Army post. The PIB clarified that there is no such formation as the "20 Raj Battalion" in the Indian Army, dismissing the footage as misleading propaganda.

Both India and Pakistan have accused each other of initiating attacks and violating the ceasefire agreement. India has maintained that its actions are targeted and proportionate, aimed at countering terrorist threats. Pakistan, on the other hand, has stated that its responses are in self-defence and to safeguard its territorial integrity.

The international community has expressed concern over the escalating tensions and has called for de-escalation and restraint. The United States has clarified that it will not intervene in the conflict but encourages both sides to de-escalate through diplomatic channels.

The release of the video by the Indian Army adds another layer of complexity to the already volatile situation. While it underscores India's resolve to respond to perceived provocations, it also carries the risk of further escalating tensions and undermining efforts towards de-escalation.
