Following an agreement between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan to cease hostilities, India has confirmed that Pakistan violated the ceasefire on May 10, 2025. The violations occurred just hours after the understanding was reached.

India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed the media, stating that there had been "repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan". He emphasized that these actions constitute "a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today".

Misri conveyed the Indian government's strong condemnation of the violations. "We take very, very serious note of these violations," he asserted. He further stated, "We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility".

According to reports, the ceasefire violations included instances of artillery shelling and small arms fire across multiple sectors in Jammu and Kashmir, including the Akhnoor region. There were also reports of drone activity in several cities within Jammu and Kashmir, such as Jammu and Akhnoor.

The Indian armed forces are maintaining a strong vigil and have been instructed to respond firmly to any further violations along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC). "The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations," Misri affirmed.

Despite the renewed hostilities, sources indicate that India will maintain its existing diplomatic measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. India's stance against terrorism remains firm.

The brief ceasefire followed a period of heightened tensions, including cross-border drone and missile strikes. Some reports suggest that the agreement to halt military actions involved diplomatic efforts from approximately three dozen countries. While some reports indicated broader talks might be planned at a neutral venue, this has not been confirmed by official Indian sources.
