Following a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, flight operations across 32 Indian airports are set to normalize on May 15, 2025. These airports, located in the northern and western parts of the country, had been temporarily shut down due to recent military conflict.

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu convened a meeting with airline representatives to discuss the resumption of services. He suggested that airlines should resume their normal schedules from May 15, coinciding with the end of the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM). The airlines responded positively to this suggestion.

The 32 airports were initially closed on May 9, 2025, in response to escalating tensions and military actions, including missile strikes on terror targets in Pakistan on May 7. This action followed "Operation Sindoor". On May 12, 2025, after India and Pakistan agreed to halt military actions, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced the immediate reopening of the 32 airports.

Airlines such as Air India and IndiGo had to cancel flights due to the closures. IndiGo announced that scheduled operations to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot would progressively resume from May 14, 2025. Air India Express has announced the resumption of flights on four routes — Hindon–Bengaluru, Jammu–Delhi, Jammu–Srinagar, and Srinagar–Delhi — from Tuesday, and Hindon–Mumbai flight from Wednesday. "Reinstatement of other flights, including international services from Amritsar, is expected to follow from May 15," the airline said.

SpiceJet announced the resumption of Hajj 2025 operations from Srinagar, with flights to Medina using Airbus A340 aircraft. The airline is facilitating travel for approximately 15,500 pilgrims for Hajj 2025.

While the airports have reopened and airlines are working to restore normal operations, passengers are advised to check their flight status directly with their respective airlines and monitor airline websites for the latest updates. Delhi Airport (DIAL) also advised passengers to expect potential schedule changes and longer security processing times due to changing airspace conditions and enhanced security measures.
