The popular web series Dahaad, starring Sonakshi Sinha and Gulshan Devaiah, is officially returning for a second season. The series, which premiered on Prime Video in 2023, garnered critical acclaim and audience appreciation for its gripping plot and stellar performances.

News of the renewal has sparked excitement among fans, with both Sonakshi Sinha and Gulshan Devaiah expected to reprise their roles. While neither actor has released an official statement, sources say they are both excited to continue the story.

Dahaad Season 1 revolved around police officers Anjali Bhaati, played by Sonakshi Sinha, and Devilal Singh, played by Gulshan Devaiah, as they investigated the disappearance of 27 women in a small village in Rajasthan. The duo tracked down a chilling serial murder suspect, portrayed by Vijay Varma. The series was lauded for its realistic narrative and the cast's outstanding performances, particularly Varma's portrayal of the antagonist.

According to The Hollywood Reporter India, the script for Dahaad Season 2 is currently being developed. The overwhelming response to the first season has encouraged Prime Video to mount the second season on a bigger scale. A source revealed that the team is diligently working and will soon finalize a shooting schedule.

While Prime Video has not yet officially commented on the status of the project, Zoya Akhtar, who co-created the series with Reema Kagti, confirmed in 2023 that Dahaad would return for a second season. She mentioned that Reema Kagti already had an idea and had begun working on the script.

Dahaad made history as the first Indian streaming series to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it competed for the Berlinale Series Award. The first season also marked Sonakshi Sinha's debut in the OTT space.

Gulshan Devaiah had hinted at a possible second season back in 2023, stating that successful shows on Prime Video usually get renewed. He also expressed his desire to play Devilal again.

Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti had a positive start to 2025 with their film, Superboys of Malegaon, which received high praise. The film was screened at several prestigious film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival 2024, before its theatrical release earlier this year.

As fans eagerly await further updates on Dahaad Season 2, the team is working to deliver another gripping and impactful season. It remains to be seen whether the original cast will return or if new characters will be introduced.
