In Madhya Pradesh, a disturbing incident has come to light where a 20-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped and her fiancé was assaulted. The incident occurred in a forest area near Churhat, located in the Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh.
According to police reports, the couple was taking a walk in the forest when they were accosted by a group of men. The assailants allegedly attacked the woman's fiancé, leaving him unconscious. Following this, the men allegedly gang-raped the woman.
After the assault, the attackers reportedly snatched the couple's mobile phones and threatened them with severe consequences if they reported the incident to the authorities. Despite the threats, the victim managed to reach a nearby construction site at approximately 2:30 pm, where she informed the locals about the horrific ordeal. The locals then promptly alerted the police.
Based on the victim's complaint, a case has been registered at the Churhat police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The police have collected evidence from the scene and have launched search operations in the surrounding villages to apprehend the culprits.
As of current reports, the police have detained three suspects for questioning and are actively pursuing the remaining individuals involved in the crime. A senior police officer stated that efforts are underway to arrest the main accused.
This incident is not isolated. In October 2024, a similar incident occurred in Rewa district where a woman was gang-raped while picnicking with her husband. In that case, the husband was tied to a tree while his wife was assaulted. Police have arrested suspects in connection to that crime as well.
