Mouni Roy recently wrapped up shooting for the upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by David Dhawan, and she's showering praises on her co-star, Varun Dhawan. The actress took to social media to share her experience and express her admiration for Varun, highlighting his qualities that, in her opinion, overshadow his acting and dancing skills.
In a heartfelt note posted on Instagram, Mouni described working with David Dhawan as a "lifelong dream come true". She referred to his films as her personal version of the show "Friends". She also acknowledged David and Rohit Dhawan as the "pillars" behind the film.
Addressing Varun Dhawan directly, Mouni wrote, "Varunaaaaa @varundvn you are the most earnest, hard working, loving, handsome superstar I have worked with". She added, "Unlucky for you, the person you are overshadows the actor/ dancer you are, and to me it's a good thing". This statement suggests that Mouni admires Varun's personality and character even more than his talent as a performer.
Varun Dhawan responded to Mouni's post with a comment, saying, "Mouni, so happy to share screen space with u... to many more".
Mouni didn't just stop at praising Varun. She also expressed her appreciation for her other co-stars, including Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. She commended Pooja for her inner and outer beauty, recalling a specific instance where Pooja provided her with support during a challenging scene. About Mrunal, Mouni exclaimed that she was at a loss for words. She further added that Mrunal is brilliant and destined for the best films and urged her to keep working hard, saying "the sky is the limit". She also showed appreciation for Jimmy Shergill, stating that she has always loved him and that he has set the tone for every scene he is in.
Mouni also thanked director Farhad Samji for his kindness and help throughout the film.
In Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Mouni Roy will be seen playing a character named Shammo. The movie has a star-studded cast, including Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur, Chunkey Panday, Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Shergill, Rakesh Bedi, Ali Asgar, Kubbra Sait, Rohit Saraf, Rajeev Khandelwal, Nitish Nirmal, and Sreeleela. The film is produced by Ramesh Taurani under the TIPS banner and is expected to be released in theaters on October 2, 2025.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai borrows its title from a popular song from David Dhawan's 1999 film, Biwi No. 1. Prior to filming in Glasgow, Varun and Pooja Hegde shot scenes in Rishikesh.
