Trisha Krishnan is currently riding high on the excitement surrounding her upcoming film, "Thug Life," directed by the legendary Mani Ratnam. The film marks a significant reunion for Ratnam and Kamal Haasan, who are collaborating after 38 years since their cult classic, "Nayakan" (1987). "Thug Life," scheduled for release on June 5, 2025, has already generated considerable buzz, and Trisha's role in it has become a talking point.

Trisha has worked with both Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam in the past, and she has openly shared her comfort and admiration for both of them. She has worked with Kamal Haasan in "Manmadhan Ambu" and "Thoonga Vanam." In a recent interview, Trisha expressed that working with Kamal Haasan felt like being in a "safe space." She sees him as a mentor in her film career. She has also shared screen space with Silambarasan in the romantic dramas "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa" and "Alai."

Her association with Mani Ratnam is also quite strong, having worked with him in "Aayutha Ezhuthu" and the two-part epic "Ponniyin Selvan." Reflecting on her experiences with Mani Ratnam, Trisha mentioned that their frequent collaborations have helped her understand him better. She feels like she has grown up with him and that she has been trained by the best. She also stated that Mani Ratnam now knows what and how to extract from her as an actress, making their collaboration even more seamless.

In "Thug Life," Trisha plays a character named Indhrani. The trailer of the film has sparked discussions, particularly regarding the on-screen relationship between Kamal Haasan and Trisha, given their age difference. Kamal Haasan is 70 years old, while Trisha is 42. Mani Ratnam has addressed this criticism, pointing out that such relationships are not uncommon in real life. He urged the audience to see the characters and their relationship within the context of the story, rather than judging the actors.

Adding to the film's buzz is the song "Sugar Baby," featuring Trisha in a glamorous avatar. Composed by A.R. Rahman, the song has been described as a high-voltage track with a playful tone. However, the song has also faced some criticism, with some netizens finding the title "inappropriate." Furthermore, Trisha has faced some backlash for her dance moves in the song, with some criticizing her for "ruining" the choreography.

Despite the controversies, "Thug Life" remains one of the most anticipated Tamil films of 2025. It boasts a stellar cast, including Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, and Baburaj. The film is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies.

"Thug Life" marks a significant milestone in Tamil cinema, bringing together two of its biggest names after a long hiatus. With A.R. Rahman's music and a gripping storyline, the film promises to be a cinematic spectacle.
