A pall of gloom has descended upon a family in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, after a couple lost their lives in a tragic road accident. The incident occurred late Sunday night, June 1, 2025, on the Nagina-Dhampur road, as the couple was returning home after distributing wedding invitations for their son's upcoming nuptials.

The deceased have been identified as 62-year-old Khub Singh and his 56-year-old wife, Lali Devi. According to Nagina Station House Officer Tejpal Singh, the couple was riding a motorcycle when an unidentified vehicle struck them. The impact of the collision caused severe injuries to both Khub Singh and Lali Devi.

Local residents rushed to the scene and immediately called for an ambulance. The couple was taken to a nearby Community Health Centre, but doctors declared them dead upon arrival. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

The news of the accident has sent shockwaves through the village and cast a shadow of grief over what was supposed to be a joyous occasion. The couple had been eagerly preparing for their son's wedding, scheduled for June 9, and were personally inviting relatives and friends to share in their happiness. Now, instead of wedding celebrations, the family is preparing for a funeral.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. Efforts are underway to identify the vehicle and driver involved in the hit-and-run. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and have alerted nearby police checkposts in an attempt to locate the responsible party.

This unfortunate incident highlights the dangers of rash driving and the importance of road safety. It serves as a reminder for drivers to exercise caution and be mindful of other commuters, especially on highways and busy roads. The loss of Khub Singh and Lali Devi is a devastating blow to their family and the community, and their absence will be deeply felt during what should have been a time of great joy and celebration.
