Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed ministers and top officials, emphasizing the strength India displayed during Operation Sindoor. The Prime Minister highlighted that the world witnessed India's resolve and capabilities in combating terrorism. Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
Modi stated that Operation Sindoor demonstrated a significant shift in India's approach to counter-terrorism, setting a "new normal." He outlined three key pillars of the country's new security doctrine: decisive retaliation, no tolerance for nuclear blackmail, and no distinction between terror sponsors and terrorists. He asserted that India would retaliate on its own terms, targeting terror hubs at their roots and that any terrorist safe haven operating under the pretext of nuclear threats would face precise and decisive strikes.
During his address, the Prime Minister lauded the Indian armed forces for their precision strikes against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). He noted that Pakistan was compelled to seek a ceasefire after suffering heavy losses. According to reports, Operation Sindoor involved missile strikes and aerial attacks on key terrorist facilities linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. India reportedly used advanced weapon systems, including SCALP cruise missiles and HAMMER precision-guided bombs, to execute the operation with high accuracy.
Modi also connected Operation Sindoor with Indian values and emotions, particularly the significance of "sindoor" (vermilion) for married women. He stated that the operation was a response to terrorists who dared to wipe the sindoor from the foreheads of Indian sisters, emphasizing that their destruction was inevitable. He further added that the world has seen the power of sindoor of Indian daughters.
The Prime Minister's remarks came amidst political rallies where he used Operation Sindoor as campaign ammunition. He framed the operation as a demonstration of India's strength and resolve under his leadership. In rallies, Modi accused Pakistan of seeking de-escalation and begging for peace. He also stated that Pakistan can never win a direct war with India, Pakistan has to bite the dust whenever a direct war happens.
Operation Sindoor has triggered varied reactions. India has presented it as a targeted strike against terrorist infrastructure, while Pakistan has claimed that civilian areas were hit, resulting in casualties. International media reports suggest that the conflict led to a brief armed conflict between the two countries, with claims of downed jets and damaged infrastructure on both sides.
