Following a recent all-party delegation visit to several nations, DMK MP Kanimozhi has asserted that the global community understands India's stance that negotiations with Pakistan, a state sponsor of terrorism, are not feasible. This statement comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22nd and Operation Sindoor, India's response targeting terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Kanimozhi, who led the delegation to Russia, Spain, Slovenia, Greece, and Latvia, emphasized the unified message conveyed to these nations. She highlighted that the delegation, comprising members from various political parties including the opposition, demonstrated a united front against terrorism. This bipartisan representation underscored the seriousness with which India views the issue of cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. The delegation's outreach aimed to brief friendly nations on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, conveying India's firm resolve to combat terrorism.
During a press conference, Kanimozhi reiterated that every act of terrorism in India can be traced back to Pakistan, emphasizing the need for global caution to end terror sponsorship worldwide. She pointed out that political leaders and think tanks across the visited nations were briefed about Pakistan's continued support of cross-border terrorist activities, despite Islamabad's denials. The DMK MP stressed that India has consistently sought peaceful relations with Pakistan, from Jawaharlal Nehru to the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but these efforts have been repeatedly undermined by terrorist attacks originating from Pakistani soil.
Other members of the delegation, such as Congress leader Salman Khurshid, defended the participation of opposition MPs in the outreach program, countering criticism and highlighting the unified stance against terrorism. BJP MP Capt Brijesh Chowta (Retd) condemned Pakistan's state-sponsored terrorism, cautioning the international community that if it is not addressed, the world will become a victim of it tomorrow.
The Indian strikes were carried out under Operation Sindoor which was a targeted military attack on terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Operation Sindoor resulted in the elimination of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen, underscoring India's resolve to counter terrorism with strong measures.
During the delegation's visit to Russia, Kanimozhi conveyed Prime Minister Modi's message that India would not distinguish between terrorists and their sponsors if attacked again. She also pointed out Pakistan's attempts to target gurudwaras, temples, and residential areas in India, emphasizing India's responsible response in ensuring no civilians or military bases were harmed during Operation Sindoor.
The delegation's efforts have resonated with several nations expressing solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism. This international support is crucial in isolating Pakistan and compelling it to take concrete steps to dismantle terror infrastructure within its borders. By engaging with various countries and presenting a united front, India aims to build a global consensus against terrorism and ensure that nations understand the complexities of dealing with a state that sponsors such activities.
