Ahan Shetty, son of veteran actor Suniel Shetty, is set to broaden his horizons in the film industry with his fourth project, an action-drama helmed by acclaimed Bengali director Birsa Dasgupta. This marks a significant step for the young actor, who debuted in 2021 with "Tadap" and is also slated to appear in the upcoming "Border 2."
The new venture, currently untitled, will be Dasgupta's first foray into directing Hindi films, though he has previously directed Hindi web series such as "Mafia", "Black Widows" and "The Magic of Shiri". The film is being produced by Shibasish Sarkar and Ribhu Dasgupta. Sources close to the production reveal that the female lead is yet to be finalized, with an announcement expected soon.
According to reports, filming is scheduled to commence in October of this year. This project signals Ahan's entry into the action genre, a departure from his earlier roles. This move aligns with Ahan's stated desire to explore diverse roles, leveraging his strengths in both action and romance.
Prior to this action-drama, Ahan has reportedly signed on for a love story directed by Shaad Ali, known for films like "Saathiya" and "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom," showcasing his commitment to versatility early in his career.
Ahan's debut in "Tadap," a remake of the Telugu film "RX 100," earned him the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Male. To prepare for the role, he underwent a physical transformation, gaining 11 kg. While the film received mixed reviews, Ahan's performance was generally well-received, with critics noting his confidence and ease in front of the camera, particularly in action sequences.
Bengali director Birsa Dasgupta has primarily worked in Bengali cinema. In January 2025, his film Awporajita, which addresses sexual misconduct and the quest for justice was released. It stars Subhashree Ganguly, Ushasi Ray and Bidipta as leads.
With "Border 2" also on the horizon, where Ahan will play the role of Assistant Commandant Shekhar Verma, and now this actioner with Birsa Dasgupta, Ahan Shetty seems poised for a busy and promising period in his burgeoning Bollywood career.
