Makbul revealed that she was diagnosed with the condition back in 2020. Autoimmune hepatitis is a chronic illness where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own liver cells, leading to inflammation and potential liver damage. She explained that her condition sometimes mimics Lupus, an inflammatory disorder that can impact the kidneys or cause arthritis. This complex and unpredictable nature of the disease has made it a challenging journey for the actress.

In her statement, Sana said, “A lot of people don't know that I am an autoimmune hepatitis patient… I have a liver disease. It was diagnosed in 2020. There are no specific symptoms of my condition. In this, my body's own cells attack the organ. In my case, it is sometimes Lupus, which can affect the kidneys or lead to arthritis. Samantha Ruth Prabhu has myositis, which primarily affects the muscles. For me, it impacts my liver. I rely on steroids, immunosuppressants, and other medications… I'm unsure if this can ever be fully cured."

To manage her condition, Sana has been following a strict regimen that includes steroids, immunosuppressants, and other medications. She has also turned vegan recently for health reasons. Despite her efforts, she admits that her health keeps fluctuating, and she remains uncertain about the possibility of a complete cure.

In light of her health struggles, Sana has also addressed the issue of online body-shaming. After facing criticism for gaining weight, she took to social media to shut down trolls and urge people to be more compassionate. She emphasized that people should be mindful of others' personal struggles before making comments about their appearance.
