The "Gangs of Wasseypur" series, directed by Anurag Kashyap, has become a cult classic in Indian cinema due to its raw portrayal of violence, complex characters, and the socio-political landscape of Dhanbad. Recent news and discussions surrounding the franchise have revolved around a potential third installment and the actors' reflections on their roles.
In March 2025, Jaideep Ahlawat, who played Shahid Khan in the film, posted a photo on Instagram featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Manoj Bajpayee, which ignited speculation about "Gangs of Wasseypur 3." The post included the iconic dialogue "Baap Ka, Dada Ka, Sabka…" and the song "Jiya Tu," further fueling rumors that another chapter was in the works. Fans took to social media to express their excitement and dissect the post for hidden meanings.
However, in April 2025, Nawazuddin Siddiqui clarified that neither he nor Anurag Kashyap were planning a third installment. Siddiqui stated that while he receives numerous offers, including ones centered around his character Faizal Khan, he is not interested in revisiting Wasseypur. Kashyap had also previously mentioned that he prefers to work on different stories and is not keen on creating a "Wasseypur universe."
Earlier this year, Ravi Kishan revealed that he had missed a role in "Gangs of Wasseypur" due to his unusual demands, such as bathing in milk, which the filmmakers couldn't afford. Despite this, Kishan has received praise for his role in Kiran Rao's "Laapataa Ladies."
Adding to the anticipation, Anurag Kashyap announced that "Gangs of Wasseypur" would be re-released in theaters from August 30 to September 5, allowing fans to experience the film on the big screen once again.
