Telangana's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) recently conducted extensive raids on properties linked to Nune Sridhar, an executive engineer in the Irrigation and Command Area Development (CAD) Department, exposing a vast accumulation of wealth allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income. The ACB's actions have brought to light a network of assets, including luxurious villas, multiple flats, commercial spaces, and significant land holdings, raising serious questions about corruption and misuse of public office.
The raids, which took place on June 10, 2025, targeted 12-14 locations across Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, and Siddipet, revealing a real estate portfolio that includes a villa in Tellapur, a 4,500 square feet flat in Shaikpet (SKY HIGH), three flats in Karimnagar, commercial space in Ameerpet, four-storied buildings at Malakpet in Hyderabad and in Warangal, and independent buildings in Karimnagar. Furthermore, the ACB uncovered 16 acres of agricultural land in Warangal, Karimnagar and Ranga Reddy districts, along with 19 prime residential plots in Hyderabad, Warangal, and Karimnagar. Two four-wheelers, gold ornaments, and substantial bank deposits were also found. The estimated value of these assets is around ₹60 crore, though the market value is expected to be significantly higher.
Sridhar, who was previously associated with the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), is now facing scrutiny over potential irregularities during his tenure. He supervised the Gayathri pump house in Ramadugu, Karimnagar. In 2019, Nune inspected the Kaleshwaram Site after complaints of leakages. Nuni submitted a report stating there were no leakages in the project and dismissed complaints of leakages. The ACB suspects that the properties and wealth amassed by Sridhar were acquired through unlawful means during his service.
Adding to the intrigue, the investigation revealed that Sridhar spent crores on his son's destination wedding in Thailand, highlighting the lavish lifestyle allegedly funded by ill-gotten gains. ACB officials are currently scanning financial documents, property papers, and transaction records to uncover links to corruption in irrigation contracts.
Following the raids, Sridhar was taken into custody and has been sent to judicial remand. The ACB has registered a case against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of his assets, possible proxy transactions, and the networks that may have enabled the accumulation of wealth.
The ACB has urged the public to report cases of corruption using the Toll-Free Number 1064.
