The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup witnessed an intriguing Group C encounter between Jamaica and Guatemala at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, on June 16, 2025. This match marked the sixth Gold Cup meeting between the two nations, with Jamaica historically dominating the series.

Going into the match, Jamaica held a perfect record against Guatemala in Gold Cup play, having won all five of their previous encounters. Their most recent clash was in the quarterfinals of the 2023 edition, where Jamaica secured a narrow 1-0 victory. However, Guatemala aimed to break this streak and secure a crucial win in the group stage.

The match concluded with Guatemala defeating Jamaica 1-0. This result marked Guatemala's first-ever Gold Cup victory over Jamaica, ending the Reggae Boyz's dominance in their head-to-head encounters in the tournament.

Historically, the first Gold Cup match between Jamaica and Guatemala took place on February 8, 1998, with Jamaica edging out a 3-2 victory. The highest-scoring game between the two occurred at the same venue, Dignity Health Sports Park, in 2005, where Jamaica won a thrilling 4-3 match.

The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, hosted in the USA and Canada, serves as a prelude to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which these nations will co-host alongside Mexico. The tournament features 16 teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages, with the final scheduled to take place at NRG Stadium in Houston on July 6.
